Self portraits of living after loss– Oh my!  the hand ones, the upclose face shots, the nest one.  So powerful.  Which ones speak to you?

  1. Thank you for sharing! Her photos are beautiful and i am glad to have found her blog too. And i think the one that most spoke to me is the one in which she has NO written all over her.

    • omg! this article is spot on! honestly, I spent so much effort trying to get through thanksgiving, I had yet to think about the holiday cards. It’s now december and I”m beginning to ache at the thought of what will come in the mail. I think she put it perfectly- will people even hesitate when they see our names, think twice about sending a photo of their smiling baby while mine is buried? oh gosh, the pain ahead. I’m tempted to post this on FB… it feels risky (like will people think I”m being passive aggressive?). screw it. i’m doing it.

      • … I posted on Facebook as well 🙂 I only have a few friends who might have sent me a card with a baby picture, now they may not (since I posted the article), which wasn’t necessarily my goal. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with reminding people how painful this situation is, how little normal things become like torture. Nothing passive-agressive about that.
